I'm a maker/creator at heart. I've always enjoyed cooking and creating my own recipes. I longed to learn photography, so I did, and eventually that passion led me to learn digital design via scrapbooking. I am self taught on all fronts. I really enjoy the journey of teaching myself how to accomplish my creative desires. The internet is a powerful medium for learning.

Recently, my journey has led me down a God ordained path to learn how to create my own soaps and moisturizers.

 

When I was 12, I was diagnosed with a severe and very painful form of Psoriasis and Psoriatic arthritis. For years there were no options for treatment that didn't have horrible side effects. I was very blessed to have parents who did their best to care for my needs. My dad even built me a UVB light box to use year around to keep the lesions from overtaking my life. Then I grew up and Biologics came into use to treat autoimmune disorders of all kinds, they worked well for Psoriasis.  Wow, did the medications change my life! Two injections a month and I had clear skin! Don't get me wrong, I was and am thankful for the mobility these medications gave me but, after years of use, there were consequences for me. A severely compromised immune system and chronic fungal infections that were debilitating. I prayed to God that he would lead me to find a way to treat my skin that would give me real and lasting comfort. He answered by leading me to research soap and REAL moisturizing body butter! No, I am not healed, but my skin is almost completely clear and pain free! If I were to start using detergent and chemical based soaps or toxic skin moisturizers again my skin would go from pain free and almost clear to looking and feeling like someone put flames out on my skin.  This is just a small part of my soapy lifestyle story.
